People enter college with differing levels of interest, maturity, and preparation. Through Touchstones innovative approach students develop a cohesive group in which each member is engaged in exploring significant ideas. Members of the group learn to cooperate with people of different backgrounds and abilities. They learn to listen to one another, to form, support, and change opinions, and to take an active role in developing and maintaining the group. Individually, students learn to articulate ideas, to respect one another, and to engage in reflective self-examination. Touchstones’ participants become life-long learners with skills to map and navigate an ever-changing future.
