Two-Year Bridge Programs

“Touchstones discussions are life-changing for me. They give me confidence because they give me a chance to speak and discuss peacefully. I believe my confidence will get stronger if I participate in Touchstones discussions regularly for a long time. … Only when we embrace solving conflicts through dialogue can we maintain what we call peace.”

- Aung Phone MyintMyanmar, Davis Projects for Peace 2013 Report Bates College

Whether feeling under prepared for or uncertain about further studies, students enter bridge programs to better their skillsets. Most students—whether in the U.S. or abroad—benefit from intensive preparation for the rigors of post-secondary requirements of study in competitive colleges or universities. Touchstones is used in a number of Bridge Programs to introduce students to the role of critical thinking while more fully developing literacy and collaboration skills. Two examples of such successes includes the use of Touchstones in South Africa (SAEP) and in Myanmar’s Pre-Collegiate Program.
