Teacher Colleges & Graduate Programs
In many Teachers Colleges and Education Departments in U.S. universities, Touchstones discussion-based curricula are introduced to undergraduate students in their teacher-training programs. The Touchpebbles and Touchstones volumes support a range of teaching modes and provide educators with proven means for building student engagement and authentic connections in their classrooms. This introduction may also include student-teaching programs in which teachers implement Touchpebbles or Touchstones in the classroom practicum.
Touchstones Volume 1 and Volume 2, and Compass have been used successfully in graduate education both to enhance teacher professional practice and explore ready-made resources for building student critical thinking and cooperation among high school students.
At Middle Tennessee State University in Mufreesboro, TN, Mapping the Future is used in Ed.D. and Ph.D. education programs to broaden the scope and thinking of leaders in education. Instructional design, school performance, and culture are three primary areas of examination that incorporated the intensive use of the Touchstones method and materials.
